Practice effective relaxation techniques

Deep breathing increases the amount of oxygen in your body. This tells the brain to release signals that will calm your body. Another technique that may help is meditation. Mediation allows for increased self-awareness and increases mental clarity.

Distract yourself

Most dental offices are aware that many patients have dental anxiety. Many will provide something that will divert your attention during your appointment. If you are going to an office for the first time, ask the receptionist if they have TVs or music in their rooms. If they do not, ask if you can bring your own headphones.
